This must go back to the old days when people had to do "whatever" to survive, and everyone had to help each other, especially in the long, cold hard days of winter. I believe that it produced a very unique breed of people. These are the people of the North. And today, their heritage survives in the volunteers that work to keep the Trappers' Festival alive.
Meet one of them
Gerald Pielak
He decided that we needed pictures and biographies of the mushers, so that everyone knew the contestants before the race. Wow! He took it upon himself to set this all up.
